Indulge in the annual tradition of glassmaking at Teign Valley Glass Studio, and infuse your festive season with a touch of magic by crafting your very own handmade bauble. This special workshop offers the perfect opportunity to create cherished memories with loved ones as you each take a turn at the craft or fashion unique presents, even for the most difficult-to-shop-for individuals.
But the experience is more than just creating a beautiful bauble; it’s a voyage into the age-old tradition of glass blowing. You’ll discover the artistry and skill required to create such breathtaking works of art. The bauble-making course also offers the opportunity to craft a unique present, made with love and sure to be treasured for years to come.
The workshop’s main attraction is the chance to craft your own stunning bauble that sparkles and catches the light in mesmerising ways. Add your choices of frit (the colour part) into the molten clear glass to bring your creation to life, and shape it on the end of a punt (metal rod). Breathe down through the tube and watch as the control of air shapes your bauble into a sphere.
As you continue shaping and refining your masterpiece, add the finishing touch by gently curving an extra piece of molten glass on top, around to create a loop. This loop will elegantly hang your creation on your Christmas tree.
After the workshop, your creation will require 2-3 days to cool down in the annealer. You have the option of home delivery* or collecting it at your convenience.
