Whether you’re escaping the winter weather or looking to fill the week with something different, there’s plenty for all ages to enjoy. From hands-on glass workshops and classic marble runs, to our museums, brass rubbing trail and the Emporium.

Brass Rubbing Trail
If you’re looking for something different to do in Devon, then you might be interested to hear that we have a permanent Brass Rubbing Trail that’s great to do, whatever the weather!
The trail is just £2, including a booklet & crayons which can be kept as a keepsake of your visit. Open to all ages: We highly recommend it for ages 4–10 (& younger children with supervision).
Exeter-based artist Clare Elsom provided drawings which bring the trail to life: “It has been really interesting working on a project in Devon which will impact so many locals and tourists… I really think the whole family will love it, no matter their age.”
It was installed in 2018 as a heritage project for the site and was expected to last for many years. We love traditional pastimes here!

Games Garden
In our Games Garden, children can climb, slide, and play on our fun climbing frame and slide. With plenty of outdoor seating, it’s the ideal spot for a break, a snack, or simply enjoying the fresh air.
Don’t miss our hands-on marble games, perfect for all ages and inspired by the marvellous marble runs inside. Try your hand at giant chess or take on the challenge of a wobbly tower with giant Jericho!
There is plenty of outdoor seating to offer a comfortable spot to relax and take in the surroundings of the Games Garden.
Wanting to sit outside in the sun but also enjoy some delicious food and drink from The Old Pottery Restaurant? You can use our easy QR code ordering system to place your meal orders.

Museums
Step into a world of colour, creativity, and childhood wonder at our Games, Marbles, Pottery, and Glass Museum.
Explore timeless games from around the world, admire beautifully hand-crafted marbles, and discover the artistry behind traditional pottery and delicate glasswork. Each museum showcases an extraordinary collection of artefacts from across the ages.
Our Marble Museum showcases an extraordinary collection of marbles spanning the ages. From early examples crafted from clay and stone to some of the oldest known glass marbles ever discovered, each with its own fascinating story to tell. Highlights include a striking trio of oversized marbles made from actual marble stone and an impressive collection of bespoke marble runs, handcrafted exclusively for us by renowned Swiss artisan Alex Schmid.
Step into a world of nostalgia at The House of Marbles’ Games Museum. This unique collection showcases classic games and toys from decades past, sparking fond memories for older generations and curiosity in younger ones.
If you have ever visited us in Devon, you may have wondered why we have a Pottery Museum. The reason is not just simple, but also fascinating! The buildings that the House of Marbles occupies are referred to as ‘The Old Pottery’ because they are located at a unique and rich historical site of pottery making.
Our Glass Museum offers a concise overview of the glass-making process and features a diverse collection of fascinating pieces. Discovering something new while potentially gaining a new interest is equally as important as passing on the Victorian making skills that Teign Valley Glass still aims to do today.

Marble Runs
Marble Runs as you’ve never seen before! You can start our unique, interactive marble runs at any time.
With four great designs to be found in our marble museum, the one you will want to see is our fifth and giant-sized ‘Snooki 2000’ – possibly the largest permanent marble run structure in the UK, or even the world!
It’s named Snooki because it’s so massive; it doesn’t use marbles at all, it runs on full-sized snooker balls! First built in 2000, this larger-than-life exhibit is proudly celebrating its 25th year, and it’s just as mesmerising today as it was when it first amazed visitors.
