A New Chapter in Our Legacy of Innovation & Community

In the heart of Devon, where the countryside meets the coast, a diverse range of tourist destinations offers something for everyone. Among these, Devon’s Top Attractions (DATA) stands out as a distinguished collective, representing some of the best experiences the county has to offer. This year, House of Marbles is proud to announce our inclusion in this group – a milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to quality, creativity and community involvement.

Since 1973, House of Marbles has been welcoming visitors with its unique blend of craftsmanship, innovation and family-friendly experiences. From captivating marble runs to our fascinating museums and renowned glassblowing studio, we have built a legacy that continues to engage generations of visitors. Joining Devon’s Top Attractions feels like the perfect next step, aligning with our values and the shared goal of providing memorable experiences.

Luke Barnes-Jones, Group Online Sales & Marketing Manager, said: “DATA offers the chance to connect with more wonderful destinations, build connections, and foster mutual support as we grow together.”

A Natural Fit for Shared Values

This partnership reflects our commitment to mutual support and celebrating the very best that Devon has to offer.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome these popular and highly regarded attractions to our group,” says Anne Blackham, Marketing Manager of Devon’s Top Attractions. “Our goal is to ensure visitors enjoy fantastic days out in Devon, and we feel confident these new sites will contribute greatly to that mission. Our award-winning attractions offer fun and great value, with something for everyone to enjoy at our top-quality venues.”

Managing Director of House of Marbles, Andrea Harkin explains: “We’re delighted to have been voted into the Devon Association of Tourist Attractions by its members. After celebrating our 50th anniversary, we remain dedicated to staying true to our heritage and values as we balance this with embracing new opportunities. Having spent five decades growing from our roots in crafting rocking horses and games, we still create marbles and more in our glassblowing studio today. Alongside our glassworks, visitors can view unique marble runs, museums, our restaurant, games garden and shop – we’ve grown into a beloved Devon destination which multiple generations now return to.”

Celebrating 50 Years of Tradition and Innovation

House of Marbles’ journey is a blend of tradition and innovation, from our early days crafting classic games to offering our own range of toys and games sold worldwide, from Europe to the USA and as far as Australia – a story of continuous growth. As Luke Barnes-Jones notes, “In an industry where values are so important, this membership feels like joining an extended family. We’re all here to support one another and show visitors the diverse beauty of Devon.”

This balance between heritage and creativity is at the core of everything we do. We remain dedicated to the craftsmanship that has earned us our reputation, especially in our glassworks at Teign Valley Glass Studio. At the same time, we’re constantly seeking new opportunities for growth, whether through new events, collaborations with local businesses or expanding our visitor experiences.

Joining a network of esteemed destinations, including but not limited to Killerton – National Trust, Buckfast Abbey, South Devon Railway, Canonteign Falls, and Crealy Theme Park & Resort, allows us to share best practices and ideas that enhance the visitor experience across Devon. Together, we can elevate Devon as a dynamic and diverse destination, showcasing the very best the region has to offer.

Looking to the Future: Expanding Our Reach

As we look to the future, House of Marbles is brimming with exciting possibilities. Our inclusion in Devon’s Top Attractions offers an incredible opportunity to connect with even more visitors, showcasing what makes us truly unique. Guests can immerse themselves in the art of glassblowing through live demonstrations and workshops, indulge in delicious meals at The Old Pottery Restaurant, or explore the world of marbles in our shop, The Emporium – a treasure trove of distinctive gifts and one-of-a-kind finds.

“This membership is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to Devon’s tourism scene,” Andrea continues. “It’s about preserving our heritage while embracing the future. We’re excited to share our story with a wider audience and create even more memorable experiences.” The support and collaboration fostered by Devon’s Top Attractions will help us continue to evolve and grow, ensuring that House of Marbles remains a top destination for those seeking something unique and creative in Devon.
