As our restaurant doors have been re-opened to evening diners for the first time since Covid, we anticipate dining aficionados will be all fired up! Visitors at this new addition to the Dartmoor culinary landscape can expect an experience entirely in keeping with the site’s rich heritage.
The restaurant now has it’s very own new evening identity too: The Pottery by Night, which helps to capture the grandiosity of the unique entrance and surroundings.
Inside the main restaurant, the old ‘dipping shed’ where fired pottery used to be expertly decorated in the 18th & 19th Centuries, the night time atmosphere takes on a different tone. With low lighting from marble-shaped wall sconces, candlelit tables are decorated with glass candleholders created in our own Teign Valley Glass kilns just next door. The look brings the unity of the venture full circle from old to new; Creativity at its very best.
For the evening menu, diners will be able to enjoy a range of sumptuous offerings that utilise our expert Chefs’ unique skillset. Not only will they be conjuring up fresh and seasonal dishes, elevating the standard we know and love from the daytime experience, but they will also once again be innovating the menu. This time the most interesting innovation is a type of smoking method used for the ever-so-delicious cured sharing platter, with more dishes set to be ‘all fired up’ in 2023 too.
Christine Holmes, Catering Manager for the Restaurant stated: “The whole experience will be quite different from the daytime, including a different entrance where people will arrive through the side of the building and stroll through the festooned courtyard before dining with us.” This of course refers to the night time route, which guides guests alongside the listed Muffle Kilns that are a Statutory Ancient Monument.
“We can’t wait to welcome both locals and visitors to what we are sure will be a truly memorable evening at The Pottery by Night Restaurant. We pride ourselves on offering a unique experience and we are sure our evening restaurant will satisfy the tastes of new and regular visitors alike.”
All in all the Pottery By Night is a must visit for those in the local area, filling a need in the vicinity for good locally sourced seasonal food with a modern twist.
