Teign Valley
Glass Studio
Teign Valley Glass Studio began in 1981 in Teignmouth, Devon, where it made specialist handmade marbles for House of Marbles. It soon became evident that our team had the skills to make so much more than marbles, so Teign Valley Glass Studio was born as a separate enterprise.
As the name and production grew, the business was relocated to larger premises in Bovey Tracey, where we are today. Situated in a beautiful old pottery building, generations of glassmakers have preserved the traditional skills that founded the specialist techniques of Victorian glassmakers.
Generations of Skill
Our first glassblowers brought generations of skill and experience from some of Britain’s leading glass houses. The studio team bring together decades of experience to make beautiful works that capture the uniqueness of working with molten glass. The makers have all studied design and have exhibited as individuals before joining the team. Our tools are our hands, eyes and sense of proportion.
A Wide Selection
We offer a wide selection of beautiful glassware, including marbles. You will find that we have products available for purchase in our studio shop, created using various making techniques.
One of our primary objectives as a business is to preserve glassmaking skills by passing them on to various makers, ensuring that these skills and techniques are not lost over time. With our work, our approach is to capture movement in either pattern or form. We create items that surprise us when it’s cold, and each one will have a unique beauty that we didn’t expect.
