Private commissions
Teign Valley Glass Studio have been involved in some amazing projects. We have made components for other artist’s work, turned champagne bottles into wine glasses as a wedding memory and done various specialist jobs for industrial customers. Below are just a few examples of the work we do, for more please visit the website.
The tree of life
~ Coscote Hospice, Bloxwich
This sculpture by artist Tim Ward was designed for the central courtyard of the new build Hospice. Then it was built to represent the ‘Tree of Life’ and was constructed using stainless steel and cast glass, with oak seating and LED lighting.
The sculpture is a focal point for the scheme and allows patients, family, friends and staff to sit in the courtyard under this colourful tree. Teign Valley Glass was commissioned to make the glass leaves for this piece. 170 leaves were made in total in various different colours.
When the sun shines on the glass leaves you can really see their true beautiful colours. Glass is a great material for both sculptural use inside and outside as glass is hard wearing and resilient against the elements.
Glass Rhinos
~ Paignton Zoo
Adoption packs are very popular at Paignton Zoo. To make them unique and appealing for the all ages they decided to commission Teign Valley Glass to make rhinos out of glass. The initial trial was successful and we now make glass penguins, rhinos and lions for the Zoo.
“We have really enjoyed working with Teign Valley Glass. Richard has really worked hard to ensure we have ended up with bespoke products which suit our requirements. It was great to come and see and experience the glass making first hand. It is such a specialist skill which has made us appreciate the final products even more. We chose to work with Teign Valley Glass as not only are they a local business but able to produce high quality products that suit our individual needs.”
Pippa Craddock, Director of Marketing and Development, Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts.
