INTRODUCTION TO GLASS

SKILL LEVEL: Beginners

This is a “hands-on” glassblowing workshop for beginners with a teaching ratio of 2:1. The workshop lasts 3 hours and explores the basic skills of blown glass.

After a short demo, you have a go at making your own hand-blown glass vases, bowls or tumblers in this exciting beginners class. Sometimes there is time to make one of each!

We show you as much as possible, but the class runs at your own pace. Your class takes place in a production glassmaking studio, and you will feel the heat of the molten glass at over 1200°C.

After a brief chat about safe working in the studio, we take turns assisting each other with plenty of water breaks. This is great fun and full of learning.

All tools and materials are provided. The glass pieces you make will take 5 days to cool down and be packed and ready for collection or delivery*. Suitable for ages 16+.

Note:

• The class is quite ‘molten’. We can adapt timeslots to your needs.

• If you prefer to make more glass and have the instructor all to yourself, you can buy both tickets and get really involved!

• If you want to book for a larger group and have a quick go each (only 2 at a time in the studio), you can buy both tickets and the 3-hour time slot is yours for a family or group workshop.
